SIKESTON - Quality Steel Co., a firm which manufactures metal pressurized tanks for storage of fertilizer and gas products, will open a manufacturing plant here not later than Jan. 1, 1968. The announcement came at the noon meeting of the Sikeston Chamber of Commerce in the Midtowner Restaurant.
SIKESTON - The Sikeston High School Varsity cheerleaders earned the Association Award of Excellence last week in the regional cheerleading camp held at Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield. The squad is now eligible to compete in the national championship, which will be held in Dallas Dec. 26-29.
SIKESTON - The newly formed Sikeston 2000 Committee has scheduled its first meeting for Thursday night at the City Municipal Building. Meetings will generally be conducted in public hearing/work session style. The public will be invited to attend and express views and concerns.
SIKESTON - The cities of Sikeston and Miner will again collaborate on a project which could benefit citizens of both communities. At the regular Sikeston City Council meeting Monday, the members approved a deal to share the cost of a widening and upgrading of Ables Road from Marion Street to Route AA.
BLOOMFIELD - Another meth lab was discovered in Stoddard County Monday by the Stoddard County Sheriff's Department and SEMO Drug Task Force. Officers received a tip of the operation and went to the residence on Highway H. There they discovered a number of chemicals used in the production of methamphetamine and a large quantity of methamphetamine. There were five adults and three children present at the house.
