NEW MADRID - Joan Duffy Cooper, 73, died July 3, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born June 8, 1934, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late Jim and Dixie Altman Duffy, she attended Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga and received an English degree from Sienna College in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in New Madrid.
On Aug. 18, 1956, in Chattanooga, she married William "Bill" Cooper, who preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1993.
Survivors include: three sons and three daughters-in-law, Jim and Helen Cooper of Geneva, Ill., Buddy and Toni Cooper of Portageville and Andy and Abby Cooper of Sikeston; two daughters and one son-in-law, Necie Marshall and Rita and Marty Jackson of New Madrid; two brothers Tom Duffy of Atlanta and Jim Duffy of Chattanooga; one sister, Jane Duffy of Chattanooga; and 12 grandchildren.
Visitation is at 6 p.m. today, with a rosary to be recited at 8 p.m. at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid. A Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at Immaculate Conception Church in New Madrid. The Rev. Randy Tochtrop will serve as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid.
