SIKESTON - In spite of showers and generally overcast skies which prevented Army and Navy planes from appearing, about 1,400 persons viewed the air show presented yesterday by the Sikeston Junior Chamber of Commerce at the Municipal Airport.
HAYTI - Patricia Karen McMullin, 18-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W.S. McMullin of Sikeston, will represent the Sikeston Jaycees in the annual Miss Missouri Bootheel contest July 4.

SIKESTON - William Edwards of Sikeston was elected sheriff of Bacon County at the 28th Annual Missouri Boys State. King Sidwell was elected judge of the Scott County Court.
JEFFERSON CITY - State Rep. Robert "Bob" Barney of Dexter has accepted the appointment to the position of Associate Circuit Judge in the 35th Judicial Circuit. The appointment was made Friday afternoon by Gov. John Ashcroft.
CHARLESTON - "Good Morning America," ABC's early morning show, will be saluting Charleston in observance of the town's sesquicentennial. Residents will be filmed providing greetings for the show. State Rep. Betty Hearnes said the sesquicentennial commission is planning Clean Up, Spruce Up Day for the city Friday.
SIKESTON - The Rev. Terry Carter and his family have moved to Sikeston to serve as pastors of the First Assembly of God Church. Carter assumed pastoral duties on June 15. Carter and his family moved here from the Tampa/St. Petersburg, Fla. metro area.
MORLEY - Special events are set for Sunday at the Morley Baptist Church, 200 S. Stephenson, when dedication of the church family and education center will take place. The congregation will gather around a monument which has been placed near the building for a prayer of dedication.
