CHAFFEE -- Eugene Leo Glastetter, 86, died at 10 a.m. Aug. 30, 2007, at the Chaffee Nursing Center.
Born March 24, 1925, in New Hamburg, son of the late Anton and Regina Heuring Glastetter, he was a retired self-employed farmer and U.S. Army Air Force veteran of World War II who served in the quartermaster corp in Europe and received a Bronze Star. He was a member of Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 6407 in Scott City, St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Chaffee, the St. Ambrose Mens Club and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 6420 in Scott City.
On March 10, 1945, he married Rella Agnes Glueck who survives.
Other survivors include: seven sons, Stanley Glastetter of Lakeland, Fla., Les Glastetter, Tim Glastetter, Karl Glastetter and Eric Glastetter of Chaffee, Brian Glastetter of Marston and Barry Glastetter of Bardstown, Ky.; one daughter, Susie Wipfler of Kelso; and 24 grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren and two step great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one son, Tom Glastetter; one grandson, Keith Wipfler; and four brothers and eight sisters.
Visitation is scheduled from 5 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Home in Chaffee with a rosary to be recited at 7 p.m. and Knights of Columbus prayers at 7:15 p.m.
Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Ambrose Catholic Church with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating.
Burial with full military rites will follow in the St. Ambrose Catholic Cemetery in Chaffee.
Pallbearers will be: Stan Glastetter, Les Glastetter, Brian Glastetter, Barry Glastetter, Tim Glastetter, Karl Glastetter, Eric Glastetter and Susie Wipfler.
