Mrs. Haws was escorted from her home in Bertrand to the Martins by a close friend, Lennies McFerren in his limousine. She has always been a fan of the Charleston Bluejays basketball team.
Mrs. Haws' children present were Dolly Ruth Brown of Jonesboro, Ark., Mrs. Betty Ward of Marble Hill, Charles Haws of Asheville, N.C., Mrs. Frances Hutson and Mrs. Mary Martin of Bertrand, George Richard Haws of Charleston and Judy K. Whitson of Memphis, Tenn. Twelve grandchildren, 19 great-
grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Out-of-town family members attended from Little Rock, Ark.; Sedgewickville, Ark.; Chicago; Columbia, Ill.; Oblong Ill.; Crown Point, Ind.; Louisville, Ky.; Cape Girardeau; Chaffee; Marquand; Ocean Springs; Portage Des Sioux; St. Louis; and Greenville, S.C.
Tables were set up on the lawn and decorated with white tablecloths with red-checked overlays with centerpieces of fresh daisies and assorted summer flower bouquets. Each guest received a personalized hand-painted hand fan designed by granddaughters, Pam Haws and Angelia Butler. Family members visited and played games of horseshoes and croquet.
Born Aug. 29, 1911, at Charleston, Mrs. Haws has spent most of her life in the Charleston area. She enjoys working with flowers, gospel and country music and handmade crafts. Her favorite TV show is "The Price Is Right." She is a member of Southside Baptist Church in Charleston and has traveled to over half of the states in the United States.
Advice she gives to her family and friends is to stay active, keep busy and learn something new every day.
