SIKESTON - Summer weather continued in the Sikeston area during the past few days. The low was 44 degrees while the high hit 77.

SIKESTON - Robert Dempster was chosen boss of the year Wednesday at bosses' night of the Business and Professional Women's Club. About 75 attended.

SIKESTON - The Housing Authority of Sikeston received approval of a program to conduct 75 housing units for low income, elderly persons in Sikeston.

EAST PRAIRIE - Miss Mississippi County Donna Kay Shelton, 19, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hancock of Kennett, will compete next year in the Miss Missouri pageant at Mexico, Mo. Miss Shelton won her title Saturday evening in the East Prairie Optimist Club's pageant, cosponsored by Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

EAST PRAIRIE - Guests at Sunday's Open House viewed the new police headquarters at the East Prairie City Administration Building. City officials and department employees guided visitors through the new addition, which includes a new kitchen lounge, cell area, officers' room, police chief office and interrogation room.

NEW MADRID - The Sikeston Lady Bulldogs traveled to New Madrid County Central for the last game of the regular season. It was also Senior Night for NMCC and the last home game of the season. The Lady Eagles finished the night victorious, winning 11-15, 15-7, and 15-12 and improved their record to 12-11-1. NMCC has now finished second in the district behind Jackson, who did not lose to a district opponent.

SIKESTON - The toughest team on the freshman football schedule rolled into town on Thursday. The Bulldogs stepped up to the challenge, sending Blytheville East back home with a 34-14 loss.
