PORTAGEVILLE -- Walter Weldon Southern, 91, died July 30, 2006, at Beverly Health Care in New Madrid.
Born Sept. 8, 1915, in Tennessee, son of the late Reuben and Zelpha Blakwelton Southern, he was a retired minister with the Church of Christ and was a former owner of the Napa Auto Parts Store in Portageville.
On Nov. 11, 1937, in Caruthersville, he married Aldeena Davis, who survives of New Madrid.
Other survivors include: five daughters and three sons-in-law, Felicia and Charles Griffy of Edgewater, Fla., Alice and Tom Boggs of Demopolis, Ala., Barbara Smith of Sikeston, Debra Medling of New Madrid and Janice and Roger Graham of Henry, Tenn.; and 10 grandchildren and 20 great-
One sister, Ruth Southern Davis, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday at DeLisle Funeral Home in Portageville, where services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial will follow in the Portageville Cemetery.
