SIKESTON -- The Southeast Missouri Funeral Director's Association will hold a golf tournament in memory of Mary Margaret Story Yarbrough. The net proceeds will go to the Mary Margaret Story Yarbrough Scholarship Fund.
Mary Margaret had a lifelong dream and ambition to become a funeral professional. Following her graduation from the John A. Gupton College of Funeral Service in Nashville, she fulfilled that dream by returning to her hometown and becoming an associate of the McMikle Funeral Home. She served as the secretary/treasurer of the Southeast Missouri Funeral Directors Association.
The wife of Will Yarbrough of Sikeston and the daughter of Pete and Sara Sutherland Story of Charleston, Mary Margaret died suddenly July 27, 2005 following an accident at Current River near Van Buren.
The tournament is scheduled for June 12 at the Sikeston Country Club. Registration and lunch begin at 11:30 a.m. with the shotgun start to be held at 1 p.m. Golf carts must be reserved by June 8 by calling (573) 472-4225.
This three-person scramble has an entry fee of $150 per team. Over $4,000 in door prizes and gifts will be offered including "closest to pin" and bonus hole prizes. There will be four flights with three places paying out a total of $1,320 in prizes.
