SIKESTON - Tallie Sams, who is living in Kansas City, writes that he plans on visiting Sikeston soon and on opening another barber shop.

SIKESTON - A field house would be one of the buildings constructed if a $1.3 million school bond issue passes next Tuesday. A two-thirds majority of ballots is required.

SIKESTON - The phase of the Junior Chamber of Commerce light bulb sale was completed Tuesday night with gross sales totaling $400.

SIKESTON - Fellowship Baptist Church is in the midst of a complete rebuilding project to replace buildings damaged in last spring's tornado. Construction of the first of two buildings began in December. Construction on the second building will begin in June. After nine and a half months of waiting, services at the new site are currently anticipated to begin in early April.

SIKESTON - The reason for locating a Holigan Homes factory in Sikeston are very clear to Harold Holigan. "It's home for one thing," he said. "My wife was born and raised in Sikeston, and I in Puxico." Holigan announced last week of land developments, a construction company and a Sikeston factory that will total a $75 million investment over the next year. The new factory is expected to begin production in June, bringing with it up to an estimated 400 new jobs eventually.


SIKESTON - The Four Season Audubon Society recently donated an Encyclopedia of American birds to Lee Hunter Elementary School. Mary Doggett made the presentation to Principal Kathy Boldrey. The encyclopedia is one of 69 donated throughout Southeast Missouri.
