LILBOURN - Alvia "Big Al" L. Simmons, 59, died Feb. 25, 2007 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born June 1, 1947, in Twist Cross, Ark., he was the son of the late Buford and Easter Holbrook.
On Feb. 23, 2007, in Sikeston, he married Connie Joe Kellum Simmons who survives of the home.
Survivors include: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Antonio Madison Simmons of Detroit and Alvin and Michelle Kelf of Elkhart, Ind.; two daughters, Totanesha Kellum White of Sikeston and Easter Kellum of New Madrid; six brothers, Rayfirld Holbrook of Detroit, Jerry Simmons and James Anthony Jones of Sikeston, Buford Simmons Jr. and Kevin Jones of New Madrid and Willie Brown of Cape Girardeau; eight sisters and a brother-in-law, Maggie Simmons and Grace Jean Simmons of Memphis, Tenn., Mary Ann Johnson and Tracy Henry and William Simmons, Delores Simmons and Rosie Blackman of Sikeston, Amy Simmons of Lilbourn and Erma Simmons of Detroit; and nine grandchildren and his stepmother, Louise Simmons of New Madrid.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Henry Simmons, and one aunt, Agnas Travis.
Visitation is from 10 a.m. until time of service at 1 p.m. Saturday at Richards Funeral Home in New Madrid with Shonta' Green, pastor, officiating.
Burial will follow in Simmons Park Cemetery in Catron.
Pallbearers will be: Elbert Kellum, Joe Kellum, Charles Kellum, Jerry Simmons, George White and John Kellum.
