WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Representative Jo Ann Emerson (MO-08) has earned three award awards for her record in support of U.S. agriculture and small businesses.
The National Association of Wheat Growers named Emerson Wheat Leader of the Year for 2005; the U.S. Chamber of Commerce awarded her its Spirit of Enterprise Award for the first session of the 109th Congress; and the National Federation of Independent Businesses announced Emerson scored 100 percent on its key votes in 2005.
"I'm always honored when groups notice my strong support for small businesses and agricultural producers. I take special care to ensure that these voices are heard in Congress, because so many important issues affect them, their employees, and our rural communities. My constituents who work at small businesses and on farms do a great job of keeping me informed of the new challenges they face so I can take their concerns with me to Washington. They are really the ones who are responsible for this recognition," Emerson said.
"I look forward to the legislative year ahead, as I continue work on framing farm policy for the future, helping to protect our small business from frivolous lawsuits, and giving rural Americans the tax relief they have earned so we can continue to invest in Southern Missouri."
