Born March 4, 1931, in Stoddard County, son of the late Duane Alfred and Eathel Oneita Lingo Edwards, he was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Dexter, retired farmer, veteran of the U.S. Navy, and 25-year member of the American Legion post 59.
On March 21, 1952, in Dexter, he married Shirley McMullin who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Thomas Wayne Edwards of Salem; two daughters, Karen Jean Wright of Mexico, Mo., and Joy Lynn Ward of Dexter; two sisters, Mary Killough of Columbus, Ga., and Kathy Powers of O'Fallon; and eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
One grandson, Duane E. Edwards, preceded him in death.
Services were conducted Sunday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter. The Rev. Vaughn Wright officiated.
Graveside services were at 1 p.m. today in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery.
