Born Jan. 20, 1933, in Peach Orchard, Ark., to the late Samuel and Hazel Tyler Gean, he was a sheetmetal worked for Pyramid Roofing in Sikeston, a member of Sheetmetal Workers Union Local No. 36 and of the Baptist belief.
In Sept. 1951, he married Glida Rucker who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Dalton and Linda Gean of Essex, Clifford and Dana Gean of Cullman, Ala., and Wilford Dewey and Beverly Gean Jr. of Benton; four daughters and sons-in-law, Kathern and Stanley Acord of Bloomfield, Belenda and Harold Schumer of Biehl, Glenda and Richard Atwill of Portageville and Barbara and Ricky Bost of Matthews; two sisters, Sue King of Portageville and Ruth Hatley of Vanduser; and 20 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Gean and LeRoy Gean; two sisters, Louise Herring and Sadie Darnell; and one grandson, Richard Glen Bost.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. today at the Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday. The Rev. Lucas Polk, a Baptist minister, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Bloomfield Cemetery.
