CAPE GIRARDEAU - An East Prairie man has pled guilty to felony drug charges.
Kenneth W. Marcum, 45, entered a plea of guilty on Monday in U.S. District Court to one felony count of manufacture of methamphetamine.
According to the plea agreement, on Oct. 10, 2006, officers from the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department went to Marcum's residence to arrest him on an outstanding warrant. They found him behind a shed on the property, which was emitting an odor which they recognized to be associated with the production of methamphetamine. When officers searched the property, they located a number of items associated with the manufacture of methamphetamine.
Marcum now faces a maximum of 40 years imprisonment and a $2,000,000 fine, or both, with the court imposing a period of supervised release of at least four years. Sentencing is set for June 25 in Cape Girardeau.
