Murder charges are filed 14 years after death

Friday, September 29, 2006

CARUTHERSVILLE -- Nearly 14 years after a Hayti woman was found stabbed to death in her home, law enforcement officials have charged a man with the murder.

Glenn Allan Moore, 29, was charged Thursday with first degree murder and armed criminal action for the stabbing death of Cynthia Diane Banks, who was found murdered in her Hayti home on Feb. 1, 1993, according to Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department.

The case was reopened within the last four weeks after information was received by Pemiscot County Prosecutor Mike Hazel of a person who had knowledge of the murder and wanted to speak to authorities.

Once the information and other physical evidence was obtained and verified by other witnesses, Moore was arrested at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at Hayti City Hall.

Moore is being held without bond in the Pemiscot County Detention Center and will be arraigned at 10 a.m. Oct. 2 in Pemiscot County Circuit Court.
