CAPE GIRARDEAU -- A Scott County man was sentenced to federal prison on a drug-related charge Tuesday before U.S. District Judge Rodney W. Sippel.

James Junior Buckhanan, 45, was sentenced to 10 years in prison on one felony count of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. Upon release from prison, Buckhanan will be placed on supervised release for five years. With his plea, Buckhanan admitted on June 28 he was stopped by Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers after he was observed speeding in a construction zone on U.S. 60 at Interstate 55 in Scott County. A search revealed about 400 grams of crystal meth concealed in Buckhanan's personal effects.
