SIKESTON -- James M. Nickell, 71, died at 11 a.m. Aug. 28, 2007, at his home.
Born Sept. 24, 1935, in Sikeston, to the late Elvis Ralph and Ruby Marie Probst Nickell, he served three years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked for the Associated Electric of New Madrid for 26 years. A former Sikeston Jaycee, he had owned and operated the A&W Drive In in Sikeston and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
On Sept. 24, 1960, in Sikeston, he married Linda L. Holmes who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, J. Mike Nickell of Sikeston and Greg Nickell of Mill Creek, Wash.; two brothers, Larry Nickell of Sikeston and Ralph Nickell of Dexter; and one grandson, Jeffery Nickell of Sikeston.
One brother, Robert Nickell, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Geoff Posegate, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, will officiate.
Burial with military honors by the Missouri Military Funeral Honor Guard will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be: Phil Garner, Jay Garner, Blake Garner, Larry White, Bryan Nickell, Jacob Nickell, Jeffery Nickell and Steve Howell.
Honorary pallbearers will be R.L. Richards, Lee Shell, Bobby Nesselrodt, Bobby Dees, Lynn Atchley, Larry Coleman, Larry Joe Holtzhouser, Wendell Thompson, Mike Gowan, Tim Davis and the employees of Associated Electric.
