SIKESTON - Buddy Epsen, who plays on "The Beverly Hillbillies" confirmed today with Jay Sisk, chairman of the Jaycee Bootheel Rodeo, that he will appear as the "star" for the event to be held Aug. 11-14.
CHARLESTON - The local Jaycee organization has reason to feel proud! Bill Branum, immediate past president, has been named Outstanding Local President and the local chapter has been ranked second in the state by the Missouri Jaycees. The announcement came during the year-end awards banquet held at St. Louis.
SIKESTON - The historic Dunn Hotel in downtown Sikeston is coming down but not fast enough for city officials. According to Public Works Director Doug Friend, a certified letter has been sent to Harry Pratt telling him that he is in violation of the demolition contract and must have the building down in a reasonable amount of time. "He must come in to the office and meet with me to determine what the next step should be," said Friend.
