BELL CITY - Gladys M. Carpenter, 82, died at 6:47 p.m. March 22, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born March 31, 1924, in Treat, Ark., to the late Louis H. and Norma Ross Gunter, she was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Church of Christ.
On July 20, 1942, in Dover, Ark., she married Raymond C. Carpenter who preceded her in death on March 2, 2005.
Four brothers and three sisters also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: six sons and four daughters-in-law, Carl and Carolyn Carpenter of Morley, Floyd Carpenter of Kevil, Ky., Euel and Barbara Carpenter, Larry and Pat Carpenter and Randy and Velma Carpenter of Bell City, and Jerry Carpenter of Advance; three daughters and sons-in-law, Shirley and Dubby Kelley of Wickliffe, Ky., Connie and Gary Wyrick of Chambersburg, Penn. and Denise and Alan Long of Bell City; one brother, Jesse Gunter of Dover, Ark.; two sisters, Christine Robbins of Lamar, Ark., and Imogene Barth of Sacramento, Calif.; and 22 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel with Bill Bradley of the Church of Christ in Morley officiating, assisted by Woodrow Phillips of the Morehouse Church of Christ.
Burial will follow in the Gravel Hill Cemetery near Bell City.
Pallbearers will be: Wesley Kelley, Garan Bridges, Bryon Bridges, Brandon Carpenter, Adam Carpenter, Kyle Carpenter and Brandon Stewart.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Scott Carpenter, Derrick Carpenter, Dylan Carpenter and Alan Dale Long.
