OZAWKIE, Kan. - Andrew Burton Knotts, 81, died July 8, 2006, at the Hickory Pointe Care Center in Oskaloosa.
Born April 12, 1925, at Campbell, son of the late Harvey Burt and Mary Ann Hopkins Knotts, he had lived in Ozawkie since 1984, moving from Kansas City. He served as a police officer in Portageville, Mo., and as a deputy sheriff for New Madrid County, Mo., for 20 years. He also worked as a maintenance man at the Wornall Plaza in Kansas City for several years before retiring in 1987. He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, where he served in the Amphibious Unit. He was a member and past alderman of the First Baptist Church in Oskaloosa and also a past board member of Lake Side Village Homeowner's Association.
On June 30, 1946, at Kennett, he married Ann Prance, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Larry Wayne Knotts of Ozawkie; two daughters, Marsha C. Roberts and Linda Sue Thompson of Sikeston, Mo.; two sisters, Annalee Denson of Parma, Mo. and Dixie Lee Lowe of Bernie Mo.; three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Ivan Knotts, William Knotts and Herbert Knotts.
Memorial services will be conducted at 3 p.m. Wednesday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Funeral Home in Oskaloosa.
Inurnment will be at the Ozawkie Cemetery at a later date.
