CHARLESTON - William H. "Bill" Brantley Jr., 80, died June 22, 2007, at his home in rural Charleston.
Born May 17, 1926, in East Prairie to the late William H. "Ben" and Lorene Harold Brantley, he had lived in Mississippi County his entire life where he had been employed with the Brown Shoe Company in Charleston and the Ameren (Union Electric) Company until his retirement. He was a member of the Elm Street Baptist Church.
On Aug. 2, 1946, he married Thelma Irene Butler, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: one daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Tom Halstead of Charleston; one sister and brother-in-law, Maxine and Woodrow Beasley of Cahokia, Ill.; three grandsons and two granddaughters-in-law, Dr. Cully and Julie Bryant of Sikeston, Jason and Elizabeth Bryant of East Prairie and Tommy Halstead Jr. of Cape Girardeau; and five great-grandchildren, Tanner, Harper and Beau Bryant of Sikeston and Clay and McKenna Bryant of East Prairie.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Gretna Mae Kestner.
Graveside services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston. The Rev. Larry Stephenson officiated.
Pallbearers were: Jason Bryant, Dr. Cully Bryant, Tanner Bryant, Woodrow Beasley, Charles Butler and Tommy Halstead Jr.
Burial was under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
