CHARLESTON - Rose Causey Spencer, 65, died June 21, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born July 4, 1941, to the late Frank Henry and Gertrude Causey, she received a bachelor of science degree from Rust College in Holly Springs, Miss. Beginning her teaching career at Delta Center School in Walls, Miss., she taught one year at Rosie Ford High School in Tunica, Miss., and completed her teaching career in the Charleston R-1 School System in Charleston retiring in 2007 after 47 years.
In 1967, she married Bobby Spencer, who survives.
Also surviving are: three sons and one daughter-in-law, Dwight and Derhonda Spencer of Bloomington, Ill., Gayle Spencer of Cordova, Tenn., and Myron Spencer of Hazelwood; five sisters, Nittie Williams, Myrtis Causey, Olympia Pritchard-Robinson, Evelyn Duncan and Mae Lillie Senter of Memphis; three brothers, Emerson Causey, Anthony Causey and Curtis Causey of Memphis; and five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
One son, Juan Spencer, preceded her in death on June 20, 2007. Also preceding her in death were three brothers and two sisters.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. today at the First Baptist Church in Charleston. Steve Betts, a church elder, will officiate.
