SIKESTON - Phil Waldman Jr. has been selected area chairman for the 1967 Heart Fund Drive, it was announced today by Dr. M. Graham Clark, state Heart Fund chairman of Point Lookout.
CAIRO, Ill. - New Madrid harbor improvements were among the principal requests made during a session of the Mississippi Harbor Commission Monday. Sam L. Hunter told the commission that a lack of good harbor improvements would be a deterrent to new business coming to the New Madrid community.

SIKESTON - Thursday was one of the collection days at the Sikeston High School for seniors who are working toward their senior trip. For the past several years, seniors have been selling magazines to earn money for a senior trip. This year the students are continuing tradition by selling magazine subscriptions, record albums and cassettes.
EAST PRAIRIE - Students of the East Prairie Head Start program can pedal during class now thanks to the Big Book Club which has purchased 10 tricycles for the students to enjoy.
SIKESTON - Gov. Mel Carnahan announced today that the YMCA of Southeast Missouri and the Sikeston Little Theatre are among community development efforts statewide which are the focus of $12 million in tax credits issued through this year's Neighborhood Assistance Program. Credits issued this year are expected to leverage private contributions totaling more that $23 million for the 136 not-for-profit organizations in Missouri which qualified.
SIKESTON - The four Sikeston winners of the Punt, Pass and Kick competition are: E.C. Atchison, Blake DeWitt, Michael Mitchell and Chase Pressley.
