DEXTER - Betty June Brown, 76, died March 17, 2008, at the Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born June 29, 1931, at Bernie, to the late Thomas and Nola Craft Akins, she was a member of the Friendship Baptist Church in Dexter. She was a former employee of Elder Manufacturing Company and retired from Purolator Filter Company.
On April 15, 1953, at Bernie, she married James Elvis Brown, who preceded her in death on April 26, 1986.
One brother, R.V. Craft, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include: four sons, Scott Brown, Tom Brown and Rick Brown of Dexter and Alan Brown of Sikeston; three brothers, Leonard Akins of Montgomery, Ill., Bob Akins of Burton, Mich. and Donald Akins of St. Charles, Ill.; two sisters, Barbara McGowen of Victoria, Texas and Bea Summers of Fenton; and three grandchildren.
Visitation is from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter, where services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Lonny Mittag will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dexter Cemetery.
