SIKESTON - Sikeston Standard presented complimentary tickets to Mr. and Mrs. Pleas M. Malcolm to the Malone Theatre Aug. 27 to see "The Late George Apley."

SIKESTON - A surprise hayride was given on Saturday night by Miss Hope Edwards for Miss Norma Jean Walker, who that day celebrated her birth anniversary.

SIKESTON - Members of the casts in Little Theatre productions will present an evening of excerpts from plays at 8 p.m. Friday at the Junior High School Auditorium. Excerpts include "The Diary of Anne Frank," "A Thousand Clowns," "All the Way Home," "The Rainmaker" and "No Time for Sergeants."

SIKESTON - St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, 106 N. Stoddard, is reopening this year with classes for students in kindergarten through second grade scheduled to begin Tuesday.

SIKESTON - At its weekly meeting Tuesday night, the Sikeston 2000 Committee finalized the community attitude survey, which they have been preparing for the past few weeks. The survey is an opinion poll designed to obtain the greatest amount of input possible to aid in preparing a report to the city council, identifying the needs and desires of the citizens for Sikeston between now and the year 2000.

SIKESTON - The End of Season High Point Trophy winners for the Sikeston Sharks Swim Team this year were: Ashley DeProw, Ben F. Marshall, Megan Nelson, Josh Atchley, Jennifer Parker, Zack Hamm, Carmen Duncan, Aidan Marshall, Trent Walker and Kristin Medley.

MORLEY - The first of 100 dump bodies manufactured by Wheeler Steel Works was inspected and approved by the Missouri Department of Transportation for shipment to the central warehouse in Jefferson City. Wheeler was selected as the manufacturer by MoDOT after being invited by the State Procurement Department to assist in producing a set of bid specifications.
