Allen wins BassBuster tournament

KENTUCKY LAKE, Ky. -- The Bootheel BassBusters held their sixth tournament of the year with a weigh-in at KenLake Marina on Kentucky Lake on July 8th.

Mitch Allen won the tournament with a six fish limit wighing 18 lbs. 15 oz. anchored by the Big Bass of the day, a 5 lb. 15 oz. largemouth. Leon Miller was second with five fish weighing 14 lbs. 4 oz., and Jerry Dement was third with a six fish limit weighing 10 lbs. 7 oz. Ty Garrett won the "Lucky Drawing."

The day was extremely sunny and hot, but the fish were still fairly active for most contestants.

Leven Cox leads in the Angler-of-the-Year race with 1,166 points. Mitch Allen moved into second with 1,137 points and Leon Miller is third with 1,126 points.

The club travels to Lower Kentucky Dam for a tournament on the Tennessee, Cumberland, and Ohio Rivers on Aug. 12.
