SIKESTON - Construction work is proceeding quickly on the new Delta Counties Bank to be located at 425 North Main. Work on the three-story, 15,000-square-foot structure began in March. The bank building should be completed by the end of November. Ralph Boyer Construction is in charge of the project. * * *
SIKESTON - The Sikeston City Council established city park and gymnasium curfews during its September meeting conducted Tuesday night. Dudley, City and Clayton parks will be closed between 10 p.m. and 6 a.m. with exceptions made for scheduled events such as organized ball games.

NEW MADRID - The assessment are complete for 1997 and Clyde Hawes has closed the books on another year's work as assessor. Hawes also has closed the book on more than 30 years in the New Madrid County assessor's office, including 20 years as the official in charge of determining the assessments for property in the county. Today, Ronnie Simmons holds the title of New Madrid County assessor.
SIKESTON - Though it began in New Haven, Conn., in 1897, the Daughters of Isabella have strong local roots. They will celebrate their 50th anniversary in April 1998 with nine of the original local charter members still active.
