HAYTI - Don Provow of Hayti again showed the district golfers a hot pace in the Southeast Missouri Round Robin Association Golf Tournament yesterday on the Kennett course shooting a 6 below par, 99 for 27 holes. Bill Busdick, Arkansas, Carl Tracer of Dexter and Bill Belknap of Poplar Bluff tied for third.

SIKESTON - Charles Matthews, chairman of the United Fund, and Kenneth Sharp, St. Louis Salvation Army Extension director, have a mutual interest in the large feather, the fund emblem. The Salvation Army benefits from the annual campaign now under way. Sharp spoke to the Kiwanis Club and Junior Chamber of Commerce.

SIKESTON - Dale White Auto Sales made a donation Thursday to the Sikeston varsity cheerleaders for their December trip to the National High School Cheerleading Championship in Dallas. At the presentation were Dale White Jr., Christy Comer, Jennifer Sides, Shannon Tollison, Christy Riley, Dale White Sr. and Deneke Borders.

BENTON - Continuing a tradition started by her husband, Rep. Jo Ann Emerson was in the Missouri Bootheel Wednesday on the 16th Annual Emerson Farm Tour. The Republican Congresswoman began her tour on Monday in Farmington and will end it on Friday in Van Buren.

MARSTON - Now that the employees are hired and the equipment is in place for the two-county E911 system of New Madrid and Scott Counties, Jim Mauk will be leaving the system in the hands of each county. Mauk anticipates leaving at the end of December when the mapping contract expires. Although the announcement has not been formally made, Mauk said that his role is basically complete.

SIKESTON - Sikeston's new soccer coach, Homer Jackson, instructed team members during practice on Tuesday. Jackson, along with assistant coach Bill Donovan, is looking forward to starting the season on Sept. 4, when the team competes in the Notre Dame Tournament.
