POPLAR?BLUFF -- The Sikeston High School varsity softball team ran into a overpowering pitcher Friday at Poplar Bluff.

Cindy Nippe allowed only one hit during the Lady Mules' 10-0 shutout of the Lady Bulldogs in a game that was called off after five innings.

Sikeston, which fell to 0-3 overall, travels to play at Frederickton at 4 p.m. today.

RISCO -- Cooter piled on four runs in the seventh inning of a baseball game against the Risco Tigers on Friday.

Cooter, which is a defending Class 1 district champion, won the contest 13-4.

Risco (0-3 overall) trailed 9-4 after six innings before the onslaught. It was the first game this season the Tigers extended a game to a full seven innings.

At 4 p.m. today, Risco plays its first road game of the season at Campbell.
