CARUTHERSVILLE - As a result of a three week investigation, three people have been arrested on theft charges, with more arrests expected.
According to a news release from the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department, sheriffs in Stoddard, New Madrid, Dunklin and Pemiscot Counties and Malden Police have cleared thefts of approximately 17 irrigation pivots and several grain bin and chicken house thefts.
During the investigation it was learned that items such as copper, aluminum and scrap metal were taken off irrigation pivots, grain bins and chicken houses. They were later taken and sold to salvage yards and recycling center in the Kennett area.
Some of the thefts solved occurred in the last couple of months and in mid-2006. Investigators are working on theft reports and are expected to make more arrests with additional charges to be filed. Names have not been released awaiting the filing of formal charges.
