NEW MADRID - Joan Duffy Cooper, 73, died July 3, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born June 8, 1934, in Chattanooga, Tenn., to the late Jim and Dixie Altman Duffy, she attended Notre Dame High School in Chattanooga and received an English degree from Sienna College in Memphis, Tenn. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in New Madrid.
On Aug. 18, 1956, in Chattanooga, she married William "Bill" Cooper, who preceded her in death on Dec. 21, 1993.
Survivors include: three sons and daughters-in-law, Jim and Helen Cooper of Geneva, Ill., Buddy and Toni Cooper of Portageville and Andy and Abbie Cooper of Sikeston; two daughters and one son-in-law, Necie Marshall and Rita and Marty Jackson of New Madrid; two brothers Tom Duffy of Atlanta and Jim Duffy of Chattanooga; one sister, Jane Duffy of Chattanooga; and 12 grandchildren.
A Mass was celebrated at 11 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Church in New Madrid. The Rev. Randy Tochtrop served as celebrant.
Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in New Madrid.
Richards Funeral Home of New Madrid was in charge of arrangements.
