Born Sept. 17, 1942, in Columbia, Mo., to the late H. Rowe and Elizabeth "Betty" Powell, she was a graduate of Charleston High School. She had lived most of her life in Memphis where she was a retired supervisor for the Shelby County Tax Assessor office and an administrative assistant with Fed Ex Express.
Survivors include: one brother, Ronald Powell of Dearborn, Mich.; one sister, Judith Powell Herring of Bartlett; and two nieces and four great-nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The Rev. Roger Jespersen, pastor of United Methodist Church in Charleston, will officiate.
McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
