CHARLESTON - Dorothy Owens Ewing, 58, died at 12:41 a.m. Sept. 28, 2006, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born May 25, 1948, in East Prairie to Edgar and Kathryn Bradley Owens of Charleston, she attended Charleston Public Schools and was a cook for Hearnes Elementary School for 12 years. She was a member and usher at St. Matthews Baptist Church.
In 1974, she married Riley Ewing, who preceded her in death in 1989.
Surviving in addition to her parents are: two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff Ewing and Riley and Linda Ewing of Charleston; six daughters and a son-in-
law, Soffance Ewing, Crystha Ewing, Charlotte Ewing, Shatara Ewing and Olivia Ewing of Charleston and Jennifer and Rene Gomez of Mission, Texas; two brothers, Julius "Hook" Owens and Percy Owens of Charleston; seven sisters, Essie McCatrey, Lillie Smith, Ruby Owens, Cora Johnson, Barbara Parker, Timothy Owens and Carolyn Garland of Charleston; and 18 grandchildren.
Visitation will begin at noon Saturday until time for services at 1 p.m. at the St. Matthews Baptist Church. James Ratliff, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.
Williams Funeral Home in Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
