Risco boys and Portageville girls each claim victories
CARUTHERSVILLE -- The Sikeston Bulldogs traveled to Caruthersville Monday night to take on the Tigers. It proved to be little contest for the visiting team as the Bulldogs rolled to a 65-37 victory.
Sikeston jumped out early, leading 22-11 by the end of the first quarter and 41-19 by halftime as liberal substitutions for the Bulldogs came throughout.
All-stater Michael Porter lead Sikeston with 21 points while Matt Ritch got in on the action with 10. Caruthersville was lead by Litrol with 14 points while Sanders chipped in with 10.
Sikeston (17-3) will be back in action tonight when they travel to take on the Oran Eagles at 6 p.m.
RISCO -- The Risco Tigers hosted the Delta C-7 Chargers Monday night, coming away with a 69-65 victory on senior night.
"It was a very exciting game," said Risco head coach Brandon Blankenship. "I have nine seniors this year, and it was great to see them get the win here on senior night in front of a great home crowd."
The Tigers were lead by Kyle White who had 24 points and six 3-pointers. The Chargers were lead by James Blanton with 22 points.
Risco (7-11) will be back in action tonight when they go on the road to Richland to take on the Rebels at 6 p.m. This game is a rescheduled event originally set for Feb 1.
The Tigers were also in action this past Saturday, beating the Holcomb Hornets 52-41.
PORTAGEVILLE -- The Portageville Lady Bulldogs were in action Monday night after a seven day lay-off when they hosted the Chaffee Lady Devils. The Lady Bulldogs showed little rust however, beating the Lady Devils 72-33 in the Jan 31 make-up game.
"We kind of started off a little slow," said Portageville head coach Eric Ellerbrook. "But once we worked out the kinks we came together and played well as a team against a well coached Chaffee team. Chaffee really played well."
Portageville was lead by Brittney Walker with 18 points. Chaffee was lead by Whitney Schlosser who managed 10 points.
Portageville (18-3) will be back in action this Thursday in the Conference Tournament at Senath. They will play the winner of the Malden/Senath match-up.
In junior varsity action, the Bulldogs came away with similar results winning 47-11.
POPLAR BLUFF -- The Kelly Lady Hawks fell to the Poplar Bluff Lady Mules on the road Monday night, 64-28.
Kelly was lead by Debra Hall who had 13 points while Poplar Bluff was lead by Williams who had 12 points in the contest.
The Lady Hawks (14-6) will try to bounce back Thursday night when they play at NMCC against the Lady Eagles at 6 p.m.
MARBLE HILL -- The Oran Lady Eagles defeated the Woodland Lady Cardinals on the road 58-47 Monday night.
Oran led 30-17 at the half and led by as many as 22 points with three minutes to play.
Callie Kielhofner led Oran with 22 points and Cheyenne King added 17.
CAPE GIRARDEAU -- The Tigers used a 17-3 second-quarter advantage to surge ahead and defeat the Eagles.
