LILBOURN - Richard Ballard LaFerney, 81, passed away July 25, 2007, at his home in Lilbourn.
Born Aug. 22, 1925, in Portageville, to the late Henry and Evelyn Winstead LaFerney, he loved to work crossword puzzles and watch the Cardinals play baseball.
On April 24, 1944, he married Dorothy Marshall, who survives, and they have celebrated 63 years together.
Survivors include: his children, Richard and Betty LaFerney of Springdale, Ariz., Billy and Leasa LaFerney of Laforge, Rosemary and Clifford Dooley, Dennis LaFerney and Evelyn and Kenny Tollison of Lilbourn and Debra and Mike Duncan and Chris LaFerney of Sikeston; one brother and sister-in-law, Clyde and Shirley LaFerney of St. Louis; one sister, Mary Sparks of McClean, Texas; and 20 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Carol LaFerney; and one sister, Viola LaFerney.
He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation is from 9 a.m. until noon Saturday at the Lilbourn United Pentecost Church, 417 S. Fourth, in Lilbourn.
Burial will follow in the Mounds Cemetery in Lilbourn.
Teague and Sons Funeral Home in Newburg is in charge of arrangements.
