VAN BUREN - Donald W. Baker, 71, died Sept. 28, 2006, at the home of his brother in Hillsdale, Mich.
Born. Oct. 3, 1934, in Providence, Ky., to the late William G. and Mable Cavenaugh Baker, he was a truck driver for 45 years and had worked since 1993 for the Ryder Logistics Trucking Company. He was a member of the United Auto Workers Union and the Van Buren American Legion.
On May 24, 1980, in North Manchester, he married Monace Bonewitz, who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two sons, Donald Baker of Fort Wayne, Ind., and David Baker of Van Buren; five daughters, Debbie Harris, Diane Oliver and Donna Baker of New Madrid, and Cheryl Smith and Mikayla Cordill Baker of Van Buren; one brother, Wayne Baker of Bellville, Mich.; one sister, Nancy Hutchinson of Bellville; and 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Five brothers and five sisters preceded him in death.
Services were conducted Monday at the Myers Funeral Home, Huntington Chapel in Huntington, Ind. J.P. Freeman, pastor, officiated.
Burial will follow at a later date.
