SIKESTON - Jerry Dale Byford, 47, died Monday, June 18, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born August 19, 1959, in Sikeston to Shirley Davis Jeffries and the late James O. Byford. He attended Charleston High School where he received his diploma in 1978. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on Aug. 27, 1976 and served with the 8th Infantry Division in Europe until his discharge on Sept.16, 1980. During his service he received recognition for outstanding performance as a M60A1 tank driver. He had been employed with WW Transport Inc. in Advance since 2001.

On Feb. 14, 1980, he married Christy Wyatt who survives of Medina, Tenn.

Other survivors include: three sons, J.D. Byford Jr. of Halls, Tenn., Jimmy Byford of Medina, Tenn., and Jacob Byford of Advance; three brothers, Louis Byford of Corning, Ark., Steve Byford of Jackson, Mich., and George Lee Byford of Ardmore, Okla.; two sisters, Rose Haines and Chris McClanahan both of Charleston; one grandson, J.B. Byford of Halls, Tenn.; and a special friend, Cindy Ramsey of Advance.

A private memorial service will be conducted on Thursday at the Dogwood Cemetery.
