BENTON -- Tiffany Osborne, formerly Tiffany Sisson, pled guilty Thursday to the class C felony of stealing from her sister's estate.
The theft occurred when Osborne was acting in the capacity of guardian/
conservator between March 1 and Nov. 20, 2006.
"Despite her former claim of innocence, Ms. Osborne acknowledged her criminal actions before the court and will now be responsible for reimbursing the estate of her sister," Scott County Prosecuting Attorney Paul Boyd said in a news release. "It is a shame that Ms. Osborne acted the way she did toward her family especially her sister, Bre'Onne, whom she was responsible to take care of after their mother's death."
Osborne, a former KFVS-12 reporter in Cape Girardeau, appeared before Judge T. Lynn Brown in Scott County and pled guilty under oath to taking $36,250.29 for her own purposes. In exchange for the guilty plea, Osborne was given a suspended imposition of sentence and five years probation, as she had no prior criminal convictions.
While on probation, Osborne will pay the full amount of restitution to the estate and account for an additional amount from insurance checks improperly cashed in Cape Girardeau County this year.
