BEMENT - Howard William Stauffer, 80, died at 3:37 p.m. July 11, 2006, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born Nov. 17, 1925, near Hayti, son of the late Charles Ernest and Claire Helene Rousselot Stauffer, he lived most of his life in Mississippi County, was a graduate of Diehlstadt High School and a retired farmer. He served with the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was a former member of the V.F.W.
On Nov. 3, 1948, he married Mary Ruth Roach who survives of the home.
Other survivors include: one son, Sidney Stauffer of Gillespie, Ill.; two daughters, Lisa Davis of Bement and Gail Utnage of Fuguay-Varina, N.C.; one brother, Maurice Stauffer of rural Bertrand; one sister, Jean Blackman of rural Bertrand; and seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
One son, Dennis Lee Stauffer, preceded him in death.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. until time of services at 1 p.m. Friday at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Harold Norton, director of Senior Adult Ministries at the United Methodist Church in Sikeston, will officiate.
Burial will follow with full military graveside rites conducted by the Missouri Military Honor Guard in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston.
