Marvin Shelton

SIKESTON -- Marvin Wilbur Shelton, 77, formerly of Sanibel, Fla., died at 4:15 a.m. June 5, 2007, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.

Born Oct. 27, 1929, in West Chicago, son of the late David Wilbur and Irene Lardi Shelton, he had been meat market manager at the National Tea Store and was a U.S. Army veteran.

In September 1956, in LaGrange, Ill., he married Barbara Henriksen, who survives of the home.

Other survivors include: two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mel and Elaine Brown of Val Rico, Fla. and Darryl Shelton of Sikeston; one brother, Ken Shelton of West Chicago; one sister, Violet Ballard of Warrenville, Ill.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Daniel Shelton and David Shelton; one daughter, Peggy Burns; and one sister, Velma Brown.

A memorial service will be held at a later date with Blanchard Funeral Chapel of Sikeston in charge of arrangements.
