WAPPAPELLO -- Charles Herbert Rowell Sr., 80, died June 1, 2007, at his home in Wappapello.
Born Oct. 14, 1926, in Blytheville, Ark., son of the late Fred P. and Lura Hubbard Rowell, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Army of Occupation of Japan and a Merchant Marine during World War II. He was a self-employed farmer and a member of the Wappapello VFW 3416.
On Dec. 31, 1953, he married Adah Merick, who preceded him in death Aug. 27, 2003.
One grandchild, Alex Rowell, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include: five sons, Charles Herbert Rowell Jr. of San Antonio, Steven Rowell and Tom Rowell of Wappapello, David Rowell of Sikeston and Tim Rowell of Morehouse; two daughters, Jo O'Meara of Florissant and Jennifer Scott of Minneola, Fla.; two brothers, Joe Donald Rowell of Oak Grove, Okla., and Douglas Rowell of Dallas; and eight grandchildren, Amy Pearson, Lindsey Rowell, Becky Rowell, Matt O'Meara, Kevin O'Meara, Madeline O'Meara, Zach Rowell and Sarah Scott.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, where services are scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday.
Burial will follow with full military rites in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
