Thursday fire at DGA

Sikeston Department of Public Safety firefighter Ricky Colbert checks the awning of the Delta Growers Association restaurant building, located at 99 Pharris Ridge Drive off of Highway 60 and FF, Thursday night for fire.

Sikeston firefighters assisted the Morehouse Volunteer Fire Department after receiving the call for assistance at 10:43 p.m. and stayed on the scene until 12:10 a.m.

While the fire is still under investigation, unconfirmed reports indicate the fire may have been started accidentally by a cigarette butt in a trash can.
