SIKESTON - The city of Sikeston recently presented the Employee of the Third Quarter award for the Department of Public Works to Bill Nance, a 29-year veteran of the Parks Division,

Described as a hard worker and dedicated employee, Nance was recently promoted from skilled worker to lead man, embracing the added responsibility by not only instructing newer division members but also in leading by example. He was honored recently by Mayor Mike Marshall.

JEFFERSON CITY - Thirty-three new Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers graduated from the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy July 14 in Jefferson City. They will report for duty on July 31. The 85th Recruit Class reported to the Academy on Jan. 9.

Graduation ceremonies were July 14 in the gymnasium of the Patrol's Law Enforcement Academy. Michael P. Kelly, director of broadcast operations at the University of Missouri-Columbia, addressed the class.

Among the graduates was James D. Patton III of Portageville, who earned his associate's degree, and is assigned to Troop E, Pemiscot/New Madrid counties. Also a member of the class was Brett W. Emerson of Kennett, who will also be assigned to Troop E in Dunklin County.

SIKESTON - The Small Business Administration will host the Community Express Loan Fair from 5-7 p.m. Aug. 3 at the Three Rivers Community College Center, 103 Kathleen St., Room 205.

Information will be offered about loans available from $5,000 to $25,000 and the application process. Those attending should bring a copy of their driver's license or official ID, Social Security Number, Federal Tax ID number and business checkbook and evidence of LPRA status if not a citizen.
