JEFFERSON CITY - Michael J. Allgier will serve as the next New Madrid County auditor.
Allgier's appointment was announced Thursday by Gov. Matt Blunt. He is filling a vacancy created by the resignation of Brian Mauk, who accepted a job with the New Madrid County R-1 School District earlier this month.
Allgier, 36, of New Madrid, is an accountant with Hillin and Clark P.C. He holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Southeast Missouri State University.
The new auditor will be officially sworn into office by New Madrid County Clerk Clement Cravens at 9 a.m. Monday.
