STEELE -- The Scott County Central Braves used a big fourth quarter to pull out an 80-62 road victory against South Pemiscot Friday night.

South Pemiscot jumped out early but once DD Gillespie got hot towards the end of the first quarter, the Braves took off and kept the momentum in the second quarter, outscoring the Bulldogs 20-8 to take a 37-27 lead at the break.

South Pemiscot outscored SCC by one (19-18) in the third, but a big run by SCC to open the fourth sealed it. The highlight of the period was a breakaway dunk by sophomore guard Drew Thomas. South Pemiscot's Felix Spates got off a pair of thunder dunks in the quarter as well but they came too late to spark a rally.

Only three SCC players scored in the contest. Caleb Johnson was a beast in the paint and led the way with 29. Gillespie knocked down four threes and finished with 27, while Thomas hit the Dawgs up for 24.

South Pemiscot had four players finish in double figures.

Senior center Felix Spates led with 16, Jeremy Patton tossed in 13, Maurichio Clay dropped in 12 and Zach Clay added 11.

Eric Fluchel poured in 31 points in a road win.

Darren VanGennip added 27 points for the Wildcats (10-11) and Tyler Clubb added 10.

Tyler Martin, the only Delta player to reach double figures in scoring, had 15 points.

Saxony Lutheran picked up its 20th win by crushing Zalma at home.

Saxony, which improved to 20-3, built a commanding 46-18 lead by halftime.

Ben Courtois led the Crusaders with 18 points and 10 rebounds. Alex Jauch added 17 points and Zach Bohnert had 10.

Justin Lemons led Zalma with nine points.

Third-seeded New Salem Baptist of Marble Hill knocked off rival Eagle Ridge in the semifinals of the 2A Missouri Christian School Athletic Association state tournament in Joplin.

Brett Jones led New Salem with 16 points and Trent Jones had 13.
