MOREHOUSE -- William Edward "Bill" Arthur, 76, died Saturday, May 5, 2007, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born Sept. 23, 1930, in Parma, son of the late Charles Theodore and Emma Douglas Arthur, he was a veteran of the U.S. Army, having served during World War II, a member of the Baptist faith and had been a truck driver for Malone & Hyde before retiring.
On Sept. 10, 1949, he married Lotha Vaught; she preceded him in death on Jan. 3, 2007.
One son, Larry Arthur; one half sister; one great-grandson; and his stepmother preceded him in death.
Survivors include: four daughters and sons-in-law, Brenda and Dale Allen of Morehouse and Susan and Frank Delana, Karen and T.J. Nall and Sharon and Roy Bonner, all of Sikeston; one half sister, Diane Huffmaster of Waldo, Ark.; one half brother, Charles William Arthur of Bloomfield; one daughter-in-law, Denise Arthur of Vanduser; and nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston. The Rev. Roy Bonner, pastor of Greers Chapel, will officiate.
Burial will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery in Dogwood with full military rites.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons and sons-in-law, Billy Arthur, Derrick Shipp, Travis Harper, Jason Richardson, Frank Delana and Gregory "T.J." Nall.
