SIKESTON - Mr. and Mrs. Charles Trout of Sikeston recently moved to Piedmont, but Mr. and Mrs. Roy Roster bought the home and moved there last week.

SIKESTON - About 480 Southeast Missouri cotton growers, federal and state government officials and political leaders are attending the 18th annual Cotton Producers Association meeting at the Holiday Inn today.

SIKESTON - The Junior Chamber of Commerce will have work parties for all members each night next week at the Rodeo grounds in preparation for the state Battle of the Bands contest June 17. The work parties begin at 6 p.m. each night.

SIKESTON - It wasn't the Fourth of July, even though traditional fireworks lighted the skies this weekend. "Oohs' and "Ahs" could be heard Saturday night from those watching the colorful display which was a new part of Springfest '87 festivities.


PORTAGEVILLE - The Portageville Jaycees are making final plans for their largest 4th of July celebration yet. What started as a small town event four years ago has become a huge celebration drawing thousands of spectators and participants from throughout the area.

SIKESTON - Don Schaefer and Theron Ford of Main Street Motors were recently honored by Chrysler. The two technicians were presented mantel clocks for achieving the Five Year Master Technician for Chrysler. This is the highest honor for a master technician.


SIKESTON - On May 29, Christan Stallings of Sikeston and Melissa Thomas of East Prairie became king and queen of the Little Mr. and Miss Springfest. Dylan Mueller of Oran and Ashley Angle of Sikeston were first alternates and Jessica Rae Rataj of Sikeston was second alternate.


BENTON - The Kelly athletes of the year are Amy Arteme and Travis Schiwitz.
