Ferguson Medical Group hires director of materials management

Sunday, May 28, 2006

SIKESTON - Patricia McCree is the new director of materials management for Ferguson Medical Group. McCree began her duties April 17.

McCree comes to FMG from Nestle Purina Pet Care Company in Bloomfield, where she has spent nearly six years in purchasing. She worked her way up in the company from shipping clerk, to raw materials coordinator to her most recent position as maintenance, repair and operations buyer/engineer associate.

In addition to being responsible for purchase and procurement of materials and services for the Bloomfield plant, she was also involved in accounts receivable tracking, capital project expenditures and major maintenance expenditures and contract negotiations, as well as various reporting functions.

Her experience with all aspects of the purchasing process, including everything from preparation and maintenance of packing records, review of incoming orders to preparation of bills of lading and scheduling of raw materials, has given her a solid background in the purchasing field, according to an FMG spokesman. She has received Gemms Certification and Elke Certification, which aid in the purchasing of raw materials and MRO items, as well as helps with item inquiries.

"I believe the benefit of the certifications will carry over to this job," she said.

"We are very pleased to bring someone with the amount of purchasing experience Patti has to FMG," said Kelley J. Rushing, CMPE, chief executive officer. "I believe she will bring fresh ideas and a new outlook to our Purchasing department. I am confident Patti's openness and directness will be an asset to FMG."

McCree said her ultimate goal at FMG is the bottom line -- cost savings. "I love to save money," she said. "But that doesn't always mean 'cheaper' or 'cutting corners.' It means negotiating. It means finding ways to do things better, and more efficiently. I look forward to putting my skills and experience to work for FMG".

Rushing noted McCree has already made an impact at FMG, by negotiating better pricing from several vendors and streamlining the purchasing processes.

McCree graduated from Marion High School in Marion, Ill., where she grew up. A resident of the Sikeston area nearly 10 years now, she has a daughter, Ashley, 15, and a son, Johnny, 12.

Besides her children, McCree said her other love is art. "It's something I enjoy doing very much," she says.
