SIKESTON - Hart's Bread and the Bank of Sikeston captured opening night victories in Babe Ruth play last night at VFW Stadium. Bank of Sikeston swept past Reiss Dairy 9-4 behind the three-hit pitching of Vaught. Harris and Vaught each collected two hits in leading their team in the seven-hit attack.


SIKESTON - Water damage of cotton farms where the wet soil has delayed planting and of acres planted which have been ruined by excess water are the main complaints received by the Missouri State Employment Service, the MSES reported.

SIKESTON - The Sikeston Area Chamber of Commerce is in the process of making two promotional videos of the Sikeston area along with a 56-page color magazine. Photographers were flown over the area Wednesday afternoon. Both projects are sponsored by Scott, New Madrid, Mississippi Electrical Co-op and Chamber corporate sponsors.


MINER - Determining what color the new Miner water tower would be and whether or not to place two tax issues on the August ballot were top items on the Board of Alderman agenda Thursday.
