SIKESTON - Moderately cool temperatures continued in the Sikeston area during the past few days with mostly cloudy skies. The low for the past four days was 60 on Thursday and the high was 84 in the same 24 hours.

SIKESTON - Mrs. Henry S. Bussey announce her candidacy for Richland Township committeewoman in the Democratic primary. Lila Jeanne, as she is known to her friends, was the former Lila Jeanne Harris of Kansas City. She is for sure a "Show Me State" girl.

SIKESTON - Bob Knabel announced his resignation as city manager of Sikeston at Monday night's city council meeting. Calling it a "professional step" and "career promotion," Knabel stated he is resigning to accept a position as city manager for Lewiston, Idaho. His resignation will become effective July 4.

SIKESTON - Bids were opened yesterday at the City Administration Building for the construction of a 20,000-foot addition to the Canvas Products factory. No official decision was made but it appeared that the Ryan Construction Co., with a $191, 297 base bid, was low. Paul Buchmueller of Buchmueller-

Whitworth and Associates said no formal action would be taken until the bids were taken under advisement over the weekend.

KENNETT - Three-time Grammy winner Sheryl Crow is coming home to the Missouri Bootheel. Crow Graduated from Kennett High School in 1980. She plans a special concert at the school's Metz Cherry Stadium for Kennett's public schools.

SIKESTON - More than 200 people showed their concern for the community's homeless and neglected animals Saturday night by attending the Sikeston Bootheel Humane Society's "Paws and Pals" party. All of the money that was raised will go toward the organization's goal of building a new animal shelter.
